The Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, and the Pokémon video games all have their own local tournaments, but you’ll be able to find them at many of the same places.

Preparing for Local Tournaments
You can pick up and play whenever you want at League, but local tournaments usually follow a structure that includes age divisions and a specific rule set. For example, Pokémon TCG events commonly use the Standard format, where your deck is limited to cards released within the past few years. You can always ask your Pokémon League beforehand for event details.
